What is a Severn Tag?
The Severn TAG is an Automatic Vehicle Identification System, which is ideal for regulars and allows you to travel Westbound across the M48 Severn Bridge and M4 Second Severn Crossing without stopping to manually pay a toll charge at one of the manned Toll Booths or Class 1 Automated Lanes.
How does it work?
The Severn TAG is an electronic device that fixes to the inside of your windscreen. As you approach the designated Severn TAG lanes, scanners will read the Severn TAG and, if your account is in credit, the barriers will raise allowing you to continue your journey without the queuing. The system records your journeys and debits your account automatically.
Two Severn TAGs are available for each vehicle category – a Season TAG and Trip TAG – allowing you to choose the most appropriate for your requirements.
We also have a Class 1 ONLY Shared TAG Account for those wanting to reduce the burden on our environment by Car Sharing.
Dedicated Severn TAG Lanes Save Time
Users with a Severn TAG can take advantage of dedicated priority lanes on both the M48 Severn Bridge and M4 Second Severn Crossing. These provide faster, more reliable service, especially at peak times when manned Toll Booths can become congested.
Further information on the Severn TAG can be found HERE. To apply please visit the Severn TAG Application page.

Severn TAG Options
The Severn TAG is available as a Season TAG or a Trip TAG and the way you use the M48 Severn Bridge or M4 Second Severn Crossing and the frequency of travel will determine which is most suitable.
Users purchase a set period i.e. a calendar month – providing you with unlimited crossings for a single vehicle. The price is fixed for the month regardless of the number of journeys made. For Terms & Conditions of our Season TAG please click HERE
A Trip Tag is similar to a ‘Pay As You Go’ option. You simply work out the number of journeys required for a set period for a single vehicle – such as a calendar month or quarter – and pay an appropriate amount into an account which is debited for each trip. As long as your account is in credit, you can cross the bridges. For Terms & Conditions of our Trip TAG please click HERE
